- Multilateral Organisation
Our Organisation is Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques en Côte d'Ivoire (CSRS). CSRS is placed under the joint supervision of two ministries for scientific research in Côte d’Ivoire and Switzerland co-signed a scientific cooperation agreement between the two countries. The Director General is Prof. Bassirou Bonfoh. CSRS has an outstanding in-house capacity and experience in intersectoral and transdisciplinary approaches. CSRS has managed around 80 projects per year and several major programmes such as the Wellcome Trust-funded Afrique One and Afrique One-ASPIRE consortium and the European Union-funded AvecNet project. CSRS produces around 100 publications per year. CSRS is composed of 8 units among which Vector control Unit. The Vector Control Unit of CSRS works on the vectors of malaria, lymphatic filariasis, yellow fever and dengue, and other arboviruses. The main activity domain: 1. Behavioral ecology and ecosystem monitoring system 2. chronic noncommunicable diseases 3. environmental changes, health and coping strategies 4. food security and sustainability of agricultural production systems 5. Institutions and Sustainable Development 6. Inventory and natural resource management is potentially curative, preventive and socio-economic 7. local and sectoral development approach 8. Population, health systems and tropical epidemics 9. sustainable management of ecosystem services and biological resources (biodiversity) 10. Transformations of space, vulnerability of livelihoods and resilience of societies The reason of my interest: I am an early career researcher in the area of vector control and epidemiology of tropical diseases. I am currently a Postdoc and Study Director for GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) and a Study coordinator for AnoPest-One Health projects at Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques (CSRS), Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. Joining BOVA Network will help me to develop my scientific career by applying for funding opportunities and fostering collaborations with researcher from vector control and over different scientific areas such as urban planning, sociology, epidemiology etc. We can thus forge partnerships to develop projects. BOVA Network will provide me opportunities for sharing experience with researchers and experts from diverse areas of science and the World. This will be an enriching experience for my young career. Moreover, getting a scholarship from BOVA at an early stage of research will surely make a good impression and change my future. As special added value, I will find the opportunity to network with other professional from the World, which is an exceptional opportunity for horizontal exchange of experience. I perceive this as an occasion to familiarize with good practices as a channel for my personal development. I think that my disciplines (Medical entomology and Epidemiology) are well suited for the BOVA. Joining will surely have a good impact on BOVA vision as my works suggest integrated Vector Management approach as the best solution to control arbovirus vectors. Being an early researcher, it is very helpful for me to join BOVA network for all the reasons that I mentioned above.
