Biography

The Department of Genetics is part of the University Medical Centre Groningen (UMCG). It has some 250 staff (including ~50 international staff) and a broad spectrum of activities: research lines in systems genetics, autoimmune and intestinal disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, congenital syndromes, heart diseases, oncogenetics hosts the Genomics Coordination Centre (offering systems genetics facilities) and the Genome Analysis Facility for large-scale genomic studies clinical genetics, diagnostics and genetic counselling* European surveillance of congenital anomalies (Eurocat) teaching of BSc, MD and MSc students, and training of clinical fellows http://www.rug.nl/research/genetics/ I am scheduled to return to my country Tanzania, upon completion of my PhD in 2019. I plan to join a reputable university in Tanzania where I can use my expertise in the field of clinical genetics and the relevant techniques to study Tropical, as well as genetic diseases in my country. By joining this network, I am opening myself to a larger network and prepare myself to work with potential collaborators from reputable universities and institutions globally.
