I am trained as a philosopher and in the history of ideas and currently a researcher at the Royal Danish Academy. I am questioning quarantines as emergency-practice and design paradigm in an "Emerging Infectious Diseases" perspective which include communicable diseases such as SARS, Ebola and Covid-19. What does the stress test of mass quarantine reveal about emerging dynamics in contemporary urbanism? How do we design for an inter-epidemic age where epidemics is formatted as a new normal and not the exception?
I work closely together with Jakob Knudsen at the academy who is also supervising my project.
The Royal Danish Academy - Architecture, Design, Conservation unites three fields of knowledge: academic research, artistic research and professional practice as three different ways to discover, invent and create. Since the foundation in 1754 the Royal Danish Academy has aimed to educate high-profile architects through research, artistic practice and the development of the individuals special characteristics.
